The KB4K organizers are proud to announce the second annual Kiteboarding 4 Kids Event scheduled for February 12th through 14th, 2010, which will be hosted by Laurel Eastman Kiteboarding School on the sun-drenched beaches of Cabarete, Dominican Republic, a Caribbean kiteboarding capital.

Inspired by a charity event Kiteboarding 4 Cancer in Hood River in 2008, top fundraiser Kee Park set off the idea of creating a fundraising event for the children on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic and joined forces with Cabarete kiteboarder Laurel Eastman and an event organizer Eva Knof.

The 2009 event attracted an international fleet of youth, men, and women from Canada, the US, and Europe as they challenged the local experts for numerous titles and amazing prizes. Bright sunshine, blue skies, and strong winds provided for excellent competitive kiting conditions and drew participation of more than 1,000 spectators, families, and casual visitors.

Among the highlights of the upcoming 2010 event are the spectacular ?Big Air ? Best Trick? Competition and the speed trials. Prizes will be awarded in Men, Women, and Junior (14 and under) categories. A significant addition this year will be the spectator-friendly Paddle Board Race, which will also allow non-kiters to participate in this fun event.

Registration is now open and the entrance fee also includes a Stonefish T-shirt and evening meals, making this an excellent value to the riders. So whether you are a local expert, a successful veteran, or a keen novice rider, we encourage you to register at Kiteboarding 4 Kids 2010.

In addition to the competitive kiteboarding, the event is about fun evening social gatherings and great meals put on by local restaurants in the ambiance of a moon-lit Cabarete night life. Thursday evening is pre-registration at Caf? Pitu, while Saturday evening promises to be a big night, with a fashion show at Lax, and a live band and official CD release of ?To Save Our Word?. For more info, see to save our world. Sunday evening?s closing ceremonies will be hosted by Bambu, where competition winners will be awarded prizes and all proceeds fom the event will be donated to local charities.

The event has affectionately been referenced to as ?the regatta that gives back? - a title due in part to its efforts in 2009 to support the impoverished children on the North Coast of the island by giving all of its proceeds (over $12,000 US) to six local Children?s Charities.

The organizers wish to thank their generous sponsors for helping them to make the event a success. If you are a sponsor wishing to contribute a prize or to make a cash donation, please visit Kiteboarding 4 Kids 2010 for further information.

This important kiteboarding event is quickly becoming an established presence as it plays its part in the sport and social scene of the local community, thanks in part to an excellent management team who are passionate about the sport and the local community, and by virtue of its dependable trade winds.

We hope to see you all here in February 2010!

great compretition

KBFK brought back the WOW factor in kite competition last year. The unimpressive wakeboard-style tricks that have, IMHO, ruined the world cup comps of recent years and made them tedious to view, were replaced by the Big Air jumps and races that left the huge crowd gasping and cheering. It was quite the most enjoyable sporting event on Cabarete's beaches for years. Go along and support this event; it's a great cause and superb entertainment - bring on the wind and the waves again :bunny:
