Last evening, along with about 30 others, we attended the Restaurant Hessen-Muller, situated in the side street opposite Ocean Dream (next to the Codetel antenna) in Cabarete. The owners, Maik, who is Greek, and his wife, Susy, who is Dominican, are specialising in both German and Greek food. After unusual and tasty entrees, we enjoyed a selection of delicious bbq?d meats and fish served with salads and garlic bread (by special arrangement) and finished the meal with a light sponge pudding. Both the ambience of the restaurant, friendliness and efficiency of the staff and delicious food made this an extremely pleasant experience.

The standard menu is varied and, in my opinion, very reasonably priced and no taxes added! Would definitely recommend Hessen-Muller and will certainly be returning there soon.

You should also try the restaurant right next to it. Probably the best German restaurant in the area.

Agreed

This place is lovely, the food delicious, and the owners very welcoming, great service.

I had yummy Greek style flat beans.

Its a fun place and I highly recommend it.

I also really like Cinnamon, at the entrance of this road (Argentinean churraso) just THE BEST.

Between these 2 new restaurants and the solid German restaurant, not to mention Swell Surf Camp, dare I say that this is an up and coming neighborhood of Cabarete?!

Enjoy!

Could you explain which Greek dishes they offer.

Listed amongst their Greek specialities on their menu are:

Greek farmers' salad 180 RD$
Fried Cheddar cheese 150 RD$
Saganaki with shrimp and Feta 250 RD$
Mussels in a mustard sauce with Feta 250 RD$
Shrimp kebab served with salad 350 RD$
Shrimp 'a la Susy' served with rice and salad 400 RD$
Gyros of pork or chicken with french fries and Tzatziki 250 RD$

And, no, I don't have a photographic memory but I did ask to borrow a copy of their menu to write this review!!

I will give you a place not one person has heard of. D'Pieros's in Sosua. Best Pasta anywhere, and a lot of other great things. Only open a short time, and isolated.

If you decide to try Hessen Muller, please tell Susy you saw my recommendation on DR1.com. I promised her I would do a good review but have no way of letting her know I have done it, until I go there to return her menu which I borrowed.

I give this restaurant 4 Yummys

Restaurant Hessen-Muller

Very tranquil setting.
Gracious service.
Very big and interesting menu.
I had a shrimp & feta dish (#42) with a fabulous sauce (!muy rico!).
They also gave us a salad (very lovely) and a crepe desert (not so yummy) for free.
Pleasant glass of dry white wine for 60 pesos.

I will be telling my friends about this one, and returning.

Enjoy!

I had the chicken gyros....very good. Also liked the free salad and free desert.
The garlic bread could be improved though. Definitely recommend this restaurant!!!
