Good priced reliable Lawyer for DR Residency

Im interested in pursuing the first step of the Residency process.

I have spent much time using the search function-before you ask?? and nothing really up to date.

Im looking for the easy process with a reliable lawyer, yet a reasonable price, if this is possible.

I know Guzman Aritza comes highly recommended, but would like to see if there are comparable services at competitive pricing.

Any referrals would be greatly appreciated.

You can't go wrong using Guzman Ariza law firm for a pain free process. I used them for my temporary residence and when that was just about to expire they emailed me with info on what I needed to do to apply for permanent residence. From my experience I have nothing to complain about.

Quite possibly you can find someone cheaper but I like the convience of "point and click".

The danger with trying to find "cheaper" is that you tend to get what you pay for and I do know many people who went round in circles to get their residency done on the cheap and ended up paying more in the long run!

Guzmans is a solid recommendation and a very safe bet!

Yes, Guzman is very respected on this site for obvious reasons, and is on my list. I was just hoping and expecting it was not the only firm in the city who can accomplish this task, in a professional manner.

I would also greatly appreciate any approximate price quotes for this service using Guzman. And of course, i know i can go direct to them for this, but would also like PMs if anyone has the info.

This is a good question, but i would guess you may not find much feedback or recommendations for any other than Guzman. They are tried and proven, but no not the cheapest around. A million lawyers in SD, yet its hard to find more than a couple you can trust.

I have a couple of other lawyers who I trust completely but they are Sosua based so not the best for you!

I have seen people save US$200-300 in the short term, only to regret it in the long term.

With my experience, I would like to go with a lawyer like Guzman. I had started the process fifteen months ago and still I do not know what is the status. The lawyer I use do not answer my phone and every time I had to go to Santo Domingo to know the status. Horrible. More than money I had lost one year already and all my plans got screwed. Now I am tired of starting back again with preparing all the documents and started seriously thinking if I need this

i've never met mr guzman
but judging from the posts, he sounds as if he's your safest bet

once in a blue moon you'll get a diamond in the rough
but a polished diamond will be guaranteed
far as i know there aren't or hasn't been a blue moon in ages
if ya really are into gambling there's a casino in town :)

Wow its obvious Guzman is good and from what i hear you pay for it, which isnt all bad when you need legal work.
But is it really the truth that with all the gringos who have immigrated to the DR, he is it. No others are fair, honest, and can get the simple job of residency done, in a reasonable time period-yet affordable.
Now this isnt my thread but i just couldnt help but notice this thread has asked on a couple occassions if there is a number 2 to Guzman. I guess there is not.

I used a large office in Santo Domingo. And I was happy with them. I always recommend Guzman to others and the office I used. I get people via my business who ask about lawyers and I like to recommend 2-3 and then they can choose from them. I dont like to make it seem as if I am imposing my lawyer on them.

Now thats what im talking about!!! goodwork.

Like the good old days in Canadian Real Estate- you must recommend no fewer than 3 lawyers and let the client decide.

I do the same here as I said earlier but I am in Sosua so not much help to the OP. What was the cost if you don't mind me asking.

New notification

I saw a new notification in the office of migracion today. From March 1, 2010 persons applying for the temporal residency has to get the certificate of good conduct from the country where he born or from the country where he lives for the past five years.

Also I had found an equally competitive lawyer in Santo Domingo and she has got the one for my friend in four months. If you want her details please send me a personnel message. I do not know is it right to reveal the number here.

The D.R. is going to need to have more regulations than that starting now if they want to keep out real trouble. There are countries in the world who have an official religion which states to its faithful followers that they must kill the infidel. It is in their religious book and those who do so are called terrorists by those on the outside but these so called terrorists are only following the teachings of their religious book which all followers of that religion read. Since most of the people in the D.R. would be classified as infidels since they are not a part of the particular religion of these countries THEN OBTAINING A CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT FROM A COUNTRY WHICH OFFICIALLY SANCTIONS THE KILLING OF INFIDELS is not going to weed out those who should not be coming to the D.R. and is not going to keep the D.R. safe from real trouble in the future. The D.R. needs to enact legislation now to keep out the faithful followers of this religion (commonly called terrorists) before it is too late.

I have a great lawyer that specializes in Residency. He is the migracion office every day. He speaks english and charges $1,000. My friends and family have used him to get thier dominican residency. Usually takes about 3 months. PM for his contact information.
