    I came across this article in today's local paper - makes me wonder how many Dominicans have those Puerto Rican birth certificates...

    That was the exact reason they invalidated them. There were no controls on how they were being safeguarded. Guys would break into schools and photocopy them and then sell the information them.

    I know a lot of Dominicans came to the US mainland via Puerto Rico using PR documents. I can only imagine what turmoil this is going to cause. Some have been here for decades.

    the same as it would if your country were destroyed in a war or something. When you go back to acquire duplicate documents you will find out you dont have or cannot get access the criteria to obtain it.
