There are some Dominicans, with residences to other countries, that have been held up by the Dominican Republic Government for months already. Every time they go to the airport, there is a new entry in the computer against their name, which needs to be cleared in Santo Domingo at the Immigration Office for enormous amounts of $$$. One family needed new passports, because they said so, then they got them, went to the airport, they rejected them, because something was apparently wrong. They got new passports again, same thing. Then they had to clear their name in the computer. Mega amounts of $$$$. Did that, went back to Airport in POP again, needed new passports again, got them, went to Airport again this past week and now they need to pay $ 2000 again to get their name cleared in the computer. Is this legal. What can we do about it. Please advise. Thanks

Latest developments and my crystal ball tell me that it may not have been the Dominican government that took somebody to the cleaners...

SHALENA

I think someone is trying to point out that it wasn't the goverment that took the money. ;)

A year ago it made no sense and that is why she didn't get any response but tonight it's all too clear.
