    Default GBP Exchange?

Why is it that I always get a sucker exchange rate on Pounds?

Today the exchange is 52 for 1 in the Capital.

    Is this acceptable?

Yahoo is showing 54.95 & you can usually calculate the rate here on being a couple of pesos lower. I can call by a cambio tomorrow for you & see what rate they are giving in Puerto Plata, if you would like me to?

Thanks Lambada for the kind offer. After some negotiation, I settled on 52.50.

I have noticed recently that the mighty Sterling has lost favor in the DR to the Euro.

Personally, I always feel a bit regal with Pounds in my pocket.

Sterling has dropped against the dollar in recent weeks from the being worth $1.60 to now $1.50 (at one stage it went down to $1.47 recently) so naturally that gets reflected in the peso exchange rate as well. I keep an eye on it because I have sterling accounts but I keep the accounts separate country by country, so that I don't get caught on the exchange.
