Now hold on hillbilly the $500 fare is a ruse. Depending on who takes you, Most of these guys want $800 just to leave the airport. Some guys might take you into town for $500 but I think $800 is the going fare. And the bus is $100 even(one way). Car in Sosua? I dont know.

The price is always negotiable. I have flown into SDQ and STI. I never pay the "asked" rate for a taxi. Same at the AI's when I have stayed there. Last trip I stayed a few days at Lifestyle Resort in Cofresi. The concierge (sp) said taxi to POP bus station was $25. When taxi arrived I told driver $10 dollars or I would call a taxi from POP to come and get me for $10. He took the $10. if you pay what they ask that is your own fault.

Whatever you say man, the taxi from the airport is $25. Puerto Plata bus station to the a resort is a long distance. Unless you re going to walk from the airport with 3-4 bags then you can negotiate all you want to.

Can you handle $ 70. bucks for a comfortable direct ride with a reliable driver??any suggestions to get form santiago to sosua Bay with out huge fare?
