The number of Bermudian men marrying Dominican women for the purpose of bringing them to Bermuda to work as prostitutes has prompted the Bermuda government to toughen the requirements for Dominicans to get a visa. The government wants to be sure the "marriage" is not a sham before issuing a visa.

solveable..

This "problem" is self inflicted.

They should take a page from the Netherland Antilles. Legalize it under government inspection, tight regulation and high taxation. No such problems there and there's no shortage of Dominican and Colombian "waitresses".

As long as governments continue their hypocrasy there will continue to be societal repercussions. Did anybody pay attention to the lessons of the prohibition era in the US? People are people and they do what they do. The only role of government in the individuals' "pursuit of happiness" is to mandate fairness, public safety and use it to generate revenue to educate the next generation of Daughters and keep them "off the pole" or at least offer them alternatives.

Commenting on marriages also going wrong, Sen. Burch said: "Unhappily the Bermuda Constitution allows for Bermudians to be stupid. There are instances of the Physical Abuse Centre having to accommodate these women, foreign nationals.

Is not just Bermudians being stupid tho... The girls know what they are getting into...
