I go to the post office in Santo Domingo and send it regular mail certificado. I have them hand cancel the stamps and stamp the date several times on the envelope. I forget the cost but it's under 100 pesos, maybe even under 50 pesos.

Another option is to send it EMS (Express Mail Service). That costs about 900 pesos.

Thanks! When I was living in the USA, I used turbo tax, but now, I am lost. How do you complete the information regarding wages, taxes? I have been working the DR since 2006! And I have not completed taxes ever since! Help!! What should I do?

One option is to go online and get all the forms for 2006 through 2009. There is a publication called "1040 FORMS & INSTRUCTIONS FOR OVERSEAS FILERS".

It includes form 2555 "Foreign earned Income". For 2009 up to $91,400 in foreign earned income is excluded.

You may not owe any taxes but my opinion is it is best to file just to avoid being flagged.

You can call the IRS and have them send you the forms and publications if you can make calls to the US without breaking the bank.

I make calls with my magicJack ($20 per year unlimited calls to the US).

Calling toll free numbers on skype is free....you cannot call 800 numbers from DR..

I didn't realize that. That's good to know. That's a good option for talking to the IRS for the OP.

Calling 800 numbers in the US from a cell or landline in the DR costs more than a regular call; something like 10 pesos a minute. I like the flexibility of magicJack for calling any number for the cost of the device and the puny annual rate.
