Decent hotel close to Punta Cana airport?

I find that I will be stuck in Punta Cana for a night waiting for a flight out. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is close to the airport? With taxi's being so expensive, cost is not as important as proximity.

Hotel close to Punta Cana Airport

The Punta Cana Resort and Hotel is just by the airport. It's nice place and costs 98$ per room per night. I stayed there last month and love it. The breakfast is fabulous too.

You must have a very good reason to be flying out of Punta Cana if, as I believe, you live on the North coast?

Maybe it's because you can get a round trip with BA to the UK from PUJ.

Let's hope the poor cabin crew aren't on strike when they want to fly:bunny::bunny::bunny:

they asked about hotels near the punta cana airport to save on cabby costs, the ocean blue is a 30 minutes away from there, cab costs around 40-45 bucks.
deams palm beach is here in cabeza de toro where i live myself, 20 minutes to the airport, cabby one way 30-35 dollars.
punta cana resort and club like mentioned bove is located just 5 minutes from the airport, the closest by far, but a cabby to there from the airport costs still $30.-.
all taxi rates of course one way,
so i guess the difference in case of cabby rates should not be the decider.
Punta Cana Resort & Club is a top spot and near, i would take that one.

It seems to me that the taxis in Punta Cana are rip off merchants. My son has just been down from Toronto for a week. Airfare with Sunwing US$85, taxes US$ around US$400, hotel Punta Cana US$30, Taxi to US$50 from US$30, airfare PC to Las Terrenas US$150 each way. Draw your own conclusions!

ooh yes,
those 400 bucks taxes really sound like a rip off to me , too.
cabbies down here have a bunch of high costs to maintan a route/vehicle, higher than those back home in the first world.

I was at the airport last night and had a look at the official price list. The lowest taxi fare is US$20 - to the Punta Cana Resort and Club (aka Punta Cana Hotel) and Club or to Ver?n.

yes, if i remember right from my last visit last week wednesday the club med and the punta cana resort and club and up to the crossing area of veron been $20.-, Cap Cana property been $30.-, as the cheapest rates.
then it starts to get touristy.
