I recently moved to Santo Domingo from the States, but don't go out much because of my busy schedule (school), my boyfriend is coming down here in August, and I wanted to show him a really good time here in the country, unfortunately I don't know where to take him, we have already booked a resort in Punta Cana for 3 days but he will be here for a week, what else can we do here in Santo Domingo. We are both 25 and really open, fun people. Any suggestions? If you do, please list the name and give me a little description of it. I would really like to do something that we might not really find in the States, but please list common things as well such as restaurants attractions, etc. things that people our age would like to do. I have already looked online for some things but I would also like to get the opinion of some others. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Other than being really open fun 25 year olds what are your interests. This could help us a lot! What is your idea of what people your age like to do?

Well I put my age because I thought it would help, there is a slight difference in between what a 25y/o and an 80 y/0o would like to do on vacation but wtv....I am open to do anything, my interests are just to try new things and have a good time, nothing specific really open as long as it is legal and doesnt have a high possibility of death, dont really know what else to write, what are some things that people do here on vacation besides going to the beach.

In Santo Domingo. You can go to La Zona colonial and spend hours and hours going through the old historical buildings. You can walk along El Conde and people watch, buy some souvenirs and knick knacks. You can go to El Mercado Modelo and buy some mamajuanas. Go to Jetset or any of the other nightclubs in the city and dance the night away. Then in the morning or in the afternoon, take a walk or bike ride in el parque mirador with it's breathtaking views. You can stop by the restaurant el Meson de la cava and have some mangu or yuca con salmon. Or stop by Batidos y Emparedados Lulu and have a delicious jugo de lechosa. Booom there's like a week right there.

We went to the SD zoo recently and it was fairly well kept and interesting - if you like zoos. A good deal of walking is required though.

depending on where you're from, the mirador views are nothing to write home about! not to mention the basoora en el calle. i'd skip that. the meson cava restaraunt is nice though.

Zoo (as previously recommended)
Botanical garden (right next to the zoo)
National Aquarium (East side of town)
Boca Chica for jet ski, parasail, snorkelling etc
Night clubs (the ones with gun check out front are the most fun)
Casinos
Restaraunts
Billiards
Unlimited Pub Crawl opportunities

I don't know about paintball in Santo Domingo, most have real guns.

Check out the Museo de las Casas Reales (or something like that) it is at the end of the Calle de las Damas in the Zona Colonial. It is mostly a historical museum of colonial days (as I remember), but it also has a really cool collection of medieval and middle eastern, and asian armour. Apparently it used to be Trujillo's collection.
Then go have lunch at one of the restaurants in the Plaza Ataranza. There used to be a pretty good crepe place there.

There is paintball in Santo Domingo, one of our nephews is a fanatic.
Dominican Paintball Players League

I've seen signs for paintball on the east coast too, near Macao beach.

In the Punta Cana area, you'll have all the beach/water sports type activities and excursions offered by the hotel you're staying in. You can Kiteboard on Playa Blanca beach in the Punta Cana resort complex, do the Segway tour, ziplines and take a surfing lesson at Macao surf camp. The Punta Cana ecological foundation does birdwatching and reef conservation trips.

When I lived in SDQ I loved going to the movie theatre in la Venevuela or mega centro en los minas..very clean with Burger king next door to it the other in a major mall with very good places to eat....also go to Juan Dolio beach awesome almost private location cab fare cheap, try the bowling ally in Piantini, and last but not least go to el malecon mid afternoon enjoy some helado bon ice cream store and walk across the broadwalk along side the beach...go to a pollo victorino go home and that's a rap!
