Day two - local Cabarete rider, Ariel Corniel beat Kevin Langeree (Holland) (ranked #3 in the world) in an exciting 'round one' final. Anyone watching would have appreciated Ariel's practically flawless demonstration of some difficult tricks - Kevin, who had looked like one of the best riders in the world in earlier practice could not match the performance of Ariel today and the local boy got a deserved victory. That's not the end of the story; through a slightly complicated 'second chance' system, Ariel and Kevin face a challenge from all the other riders in the 'double elimination' in the next rounds, including Youri Zoon (also Holland) ranked #4 in the world.

Susi Mai is also competing - she's lived and kiteboarded in Cabarete for most of her life and is a joy to watch on the water.

Try to get on the beach tomorrow at Bozo to watch; The wind is perfect for this competition. Try and support a part of what helped to put Cabarete on the world's sporting map.
