I have found a few different answers on-line.
What is the best currency to go with?
I was told I can take Canadian and exchange it there!
Is it best to go with Canadian ? American? Buy Dominican Peso in canada before we go? Wait to exchange it there?
I just don't want to get ripped off exchanging it at the wrong place!

any suggestions ??

american dollars are accepted everywhere.
the perfect currency to go with would be dominican pesos.
forget canadian dollars or british pounds or euros, the exchange rate on each of them will make you suffer
have fun

Exchange a a few Loonie for USD @ home and just use the ATM for the rest of your cash, safer to use during the day when the bank is open.

For me, the best currency to go with is the US dollar. I choose it because I know they are thinking that US dollar should be the reserve currency of the whole world because it was powerful currency of all time.

Bring an ATM card and a few USD to pay for the hoetel & taxi. Pound Esterlina are discounted a bit too much locally, so USD are better.
Most entertainment will be paid for in RD pesos.
