Anyone know where to get one in Puerto Plata (or Santiago)?
We need to put one in but dont want to go through with the expense of running a 220v line. Actually we might even be willing to bring one back from Santo Domingo, this heat is killing us!

Sounds about right, but our place is small so that should be fine to lower the temp a few degrees.

Anyone see any for sale?

I just purchased a 110 12,000 BTU split system from Bellon In Santiago for 19,000. DP Works great and uses less energy than I thought it would.
For the two weeks it was used, evenings for sleeping only, it increased my electric bill by 400 DP, not bad.

way, what is the rated AMPS input of the AC? You can read it on the sticker, on the console. Just want to compare it to a 12000 BTU 220V Nedoca I have in the office...

Rated AMPS input is 16
Rated power input is 1600W...Hope this info helps
It is made by Chigo (Chinese)
I was remodeling a small guest house and the owner did not want to go through the expense of getting a new meter and upgrading the wiring for a 220 Volt.
This was the largest I was able to find in a 110. and I checked everywhere.

What type of wattanty came with the Chigo? Brand sounds unknown.

I was told 1 year parts and labor...but you know what that means here,
1 year parts and labor if it doesn't break.
Also comes with a remote and digital screen on a/c
Mdl. # KF32GW/b
Looked it up on Google search and all I got was Chinese gibberish.
No offense to our Chinese members.....

Try Refripartes in POP. In the plaza just after the Brugal factory.

I've bought several TGM units from them, which are excellent value. A great innovation is the split system with the outdoor unit in a plastic case. Great for this coastal environment.

Thanks for the suggestion, we just called them but they don't have any in at the moment.

I think you will get maximum 9000 BTU on 110V. Anything above is 220V.
And it will be a very inefficient 9000BTU's.

The small cost of running a 220 line will be recovered in just a few months AND, as you said, more BTU's are available.

We just got a 220 line installed using the existing breaker box outside. Cost 800 pesos plus the materials, not too bad! Thanks for the advice.

Now we are looking for a cheap-ish 220v split a/c, we looked in lasirena and refripartes, but anywhere else in POP? The fact that they will actually honor the warranty is important to us.

Is your meter a 220 meter, I was told it was expensive to switch over.
But, EdeNorte would never quote me a price.

Tell me. Why 9000 BTU 110 is not efficient for a bedroom or small sitting room?
Think of volts as horsepower and amps as torque...

110v has to work way harder to push that compressor than 220 does.

Yes, 220 at the meter. I didn't think there was such a thing as a meter with 110, I thought it was always 220 split into 2 lines of 110 at the main breaker.
