Great experience in Santiago--Gracias Hillbilly!!

I returned this week to Santiago for two more dental implants from Dr. Alonso Genao-- The cost was less than HALF of what I would have been charged in the US!
Due to a 6-hour delay at Miami airport, I didn't arrive to STI until 1:30 AM; however, the wonderful Luis (Hillbilly) had reserved a room for me at the Hotel Jardines and I was able to sleep well in a sparkling clean room for $50US-- I had just enough time before my dentist appt. for coffee with the ever gracious Luis who then gave me a ride to Dr. Genao's new clinic.
Luis also arranged--with the help of JJ (Bachata)--a taxi to Las Terrenas, where we own a rental house-- After major oral surgery, I didn't want to endure a bus ride and Miguel (Apollo Taxi) made it a quick and safe trip-
So...muchas gracias Luis, for ALL of your help--I will have to return for a longer visit to hear more about your work and family-

If you need dental work, he IS the man. His dentist charged me around $2000.00 USD for work my dentist in USA wanted
$12,000.00 for (4 rear molar canals, 5 posts and five porcelain crowns, painless and all in one week. Dr Rita's style didn't hurt either

m interested in goign to this dentist - i need a second opinion and some implant. does he only do surgery and implants? will he do root canals?

susan what was the total cost of the implant with crown? thanks.

also i'm willing to travel from santo domingo - is his office near the caribe tours bus stop. any help , direction is greatly appreciated.

I believe one impant cost $800, two for $700 each... I had my crowns done in the US because they were covered by dental insurance- And you should call and ask about root canal as I think he only does implants- I took a cab to his office so I don't know if he's near the Caribe bus stop-- Good luck!!

The dentist mentioned by Tom D'Alfonso does root canals if you are interested, but there are great dentists in Santo Domingo. Just look up "Estomatologistas" which are graduates from the PUCMM program.. It is different than most DDS programs.

But, hey! Great, come to Santiago, both of these dentists are a RD$125-150 peso taxi ride from the FIRST Caribe Tours stop coming from Santo Domingo or the SECOND stop if you are coming from Sos?a or POP. Metro Bus Stop is 150 yards away. The ONLY stop in Stgo.

FYI: I just priced a three piece bridge, including one extraction and fitting at less than US$1000....

Yes, ok,......US$ 1000 = 37.000 RD$, butno much dominicans can't afford this, so it's expensive I think.
Not by US standards but we are here in the DR.....

Here is some recent pricings:
9 fillings @1,400 each
Crown: 10,000
Root canal: 5000
Reinforcement for crown: 2000
And something else...came out to US$820 or 30,000 and change (+/-)

Mr. Smith came in on Saturday morning, we got the x-rays, did the root canal (painless) and prepped for the crown. This morning the 9 fillings were done. First fitting of crown tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning.

As an asside, I found out that Hotel Los Jardines has singles at 1600 with breakfast and doubles at 1900 with breakfast. 809 276 8222 www.hotellosjardinesrd.dom

IMO, it is the only place that much nicer and so close to the price at Hotel Colonial and in a nicer area of town.

Hi, My name is Rachelle, I am new to the group. My friends, Audrey and Zahed have a home in Las Terrenas. I'll be visiting for the first week in October. Was it you, Hillbilly, who recommended Dr. Alonso Genao to Susan77 ? I am need of major dental implant surgery and want to visit at least 2 dentists (prothodonist or implant specialist) while I am there. I have visited a few other countries as I am Planning a move abroad in the recent years to come and I look forward to visiting Dominican Republic!
