I need to buy a heavy duty fan for my apartment by next week, where can I find one and how much do they cost. Thanks in advance.

You find them everywhere. Easiest to describe with a good selection is probably Plaza Lama or you could use the fereteria up the road for smaller ones.
Do you want a ceiling one or a free standing one?
Ceiling one will cost you anything depending on what you have it made from.
a free standing one will cost 1750pesos up over depending if you want height adjusting, electric swivels and so on.
I've got on about 14inch and paid 2500pesos, it only swivels 45degrees but is powerful enough never to need it on full blast if the electric goes down.

How about box fans. 1500 or so at La Sirena, Plaza Llama
Or the big Circular floor fans. at around 2000

la sirena had both of the above in stock last saturday. They will move a lot of air
you can get a nice plastic stand up fan at LR Commerial for RD900. Or go to a good Ferreteria and buy a K-- wall mount ocillatting kick ass fan. ( the metal one) for rd 3000 .

It was here in Santiago but you would think they would have the same one in the capital. I do remember that it said "industrial" and was all chromed.
