Is there a place near Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo that resembles Cayo Levantado where you can do snorkeling (waist deep water and can see fish) with a toddler? Has anyone rented a car to travel from Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo to Samana / Cayo Levantado? In Samana Bay, is there a way to get there on our own and get a ?water taxi?, fisherman willing to take us to Cayo Levantado? How about equipment rental?

Are you referring to Isla Paraiso? Paradise Island? It is west of Puerto Plata a good 2 hours drive. Yes there is good shallow snorkelling there but not sure I would take a toddler.

Thank you for your reply. I was referring to Isla Paraiso. Any other places that you recommend to go with a toddler?

Ocean World has recreated an underwater bay. You snorkel through the reef and/or watch through glass windows. I recommend the whole park.
