Celuisma = Tropical

The Celuisma is the Tropical in Camino del Sol. I personally would not recommend this hotel to friends. It is quite run down, the rooms are old, the sheets worn, and the buildings not well maintained inside and out. The gardens are nice but in all the place is very depressing although I hear the staff is nice and the food is decent. Also the area where it is located has been deserted for a couple of years, most of the businesses have closed, the road is full of wholes.

All in all, there are much nicer places than this one, even though they are not all inclusive.

Very few hotels in Cabarete are AI. Here's the list of those that advertise as AI and are open.

Viva Wyndham Tangerine and Tangerine Palace (Bozo beach, the palace is the new building)
Tropical Casa Laguna Beach (center of town)
Ocean Manor Beach Resort (Cabarete east)
Celuisima Cabarete (in the Camino del Sol area)
Coral del Sol (a few miles west of Cabarete center)

Except for Coral del Sol, the rest are small resorts.

Is Coral del Sol, the old closed down Breezes????

Does anyone have comments on the place since it re-opened, is there still a Casino in there??

I doubt the casino is operating at Coral del Sol. Don't see much traffic going in and out of the complex, overall any time of day. (I live in the next door development.)

My choice for an AI in the Cabarete area would be Wyndam Tangerine. Have had people stay there a couple of times. For 20 year olds, it is great. If you are a more discriminating traveler, then I wouldn't recommend any AI's in this immediate area.

Having said that, the Wyndam Tangerine is clean, gives good service, has a beautiful beach, a decent, large pool, and is within walking distance of Cabarete beach restaurants and bars.

Yes, Coral del Sol is the old Breezes. The only thing that changed was the management company and the name; owners still the same. I understand they're still working on renovating.

Not sure if the casino is open, but it'd better be when they are marketing themselves as "Coral Sol de Plata Resort, Spa & Casino" on Expedia. They'll be lots of disappointed customers.

Little confused

Wyndham Tangerine, some rooms are next to Maraja right? Never heard of Palace Tangerine.

My thinking was to recommend Tangerine but also wanted opinions on villa Taina which i thought offered AI.

The stay is for this long weekend.

Any info. on how to get the best price at Tangerine is also appreciated. :)

Villa Taina is in a different category than Wyndam Tangerine. I believe breakfast is included in the stay. Not sure about an all inclusive option. The rooms are clean, nice, simply furnished. You are right on the beach. Most rooms in Wyndam are not. However, most rooms at Villa Taina do not have an ocean view. Villa Taina, because it is small, does not have all the facilities and options that Wyndam has.

However, Villa Taina is closer to the center of Cabarete. If you are coming for water sports, Villa Taina is a better location. Also, because it is smaller, you probably get more personalized service in Villa Taina.

What to choose depends on what a person wants in a hotel and a vacation.

Viva Tangerine is currently on SALE on most internet booking sites like travelocity, SideStep, hotels, Expedia etc.
In the upper $80's per ROOM per night... AI.

JD- Is that per room or per person. If it is per room, that truly is a great price!

Did the search myself, JD. If you put in one person, one room, you get one price. However, if you type in two people per room or three people per room, you get a higher price....

Of course it is more, you have to pay for that lovely buffet!

You are usually quoted PP, double occupancy required btw.

The "room" cost PP goes down, the total goes up as you add people.

Viva Tangerine NICE

Tangerine is a very nice place to stay. Well situated and food is quite decent for an all inclusive. The only draw back is that if you are meeting friends in Cabarete, you cannot meet them at Tangerine. Security is very tight, they will not let anyone in who is not a registered guest, they do not even let you in if you sign in. If you meet your guests on the beach, they will not let them sit on the lounge chairs.
I know from personnally experiencing it. Even if you are a Resident and you subscribe to their Gym it is a hassle to get in.

I am being quoted $74 for one person, and $99 for two PLUS tax.

NOTE: The $407.91 actually is stricken thru on the web result to suggest a discount. $281.46 is the best offer I found in a QUICK RANDOMLY picked date.
Still UNDER $100.oo/night for TWO, slept, boozed up and overfed ;).

Again: Next booking step:

I check in and out of hotels around here like pop artist do in rehab centers. It's quite some tedious WORK to find the BEST rates. I Santo Domingo, I never seem to find the SAME hotel... I either stay at the Melia, the Jaragua or the B-Lina.... always below $100.oo a night. But EVERY TIME I got to work ALL the online travel sites... although lately, TraveloCity seems to work well for me.
