The DR has dental tourism - costs are about 20-30% of the US. I have had crowns, an inlay and fillings, and the Dr was just as good as my old Drs in the US.

Scaling done in a medical spa in Santiago by a great periodontist: RD$18,000
    Replacing old fillings: RD$1,200 each.

For a molar crown, their specialist asked for US$1,000, or $850 for porcelain fused to metal. Needless to say, I'm getting it done in Sosua for $330.

I could not agree more, as this dental scam with their prices is absurd.

The difference in price is the cleanliness of their office or so they proclaim.

With hydrogen peroxide you can sew yourself up like Rambo but you don't get the June Jabobs Cucumber Faical Bar!

    That's a must!

out of curiosity... how much for implants?

As an optometrist by training, I have not been impressed by the services offered here... but I may have seen the wrong places...

I have noticed that dentist pricing in SD varies alot, although still far better priced then USA/Canada, for most things.
I have also stumbled across a Dominican girl who has started a mobile teeth whitening service in SD and the pricing was much cheaper than in my dentists office, with same procedure with lights etc. I believe she only uses dentistS and dental students with experience to do treatments. I think i still have her card somewhere, if you want PM me.

You have. There are MANY very credible optometry offices.

There are several opthamologists in Santiago that offer LASIK inexpensively. Cataracs can be done for around US$1000.

There are excellent dentists all over, including mi esposas sister in Santiago. Last week I had a crown repaired and cleaning done for RD$1500 in clean, modern surroundings with all the professional care one could ask.

Medical care here can be excellent if you search around.
