Hello again - I am not sure how or why the previous thread became closed???
However I will ask again - me and my five female friends (in our 20's) will be arriving in Cabarete on Sunday and will be here for two weeks. We are trying to find out which are the best nightclubs in cabarete/puerto plata playing reggaeton/hip hop/rnb/reggae - latin flavours??

I've head Ono's and LAX are quite decent but I am not sure of many others so would really appreciate any ideas.

Thanks in advance

P.S. any other ideas of things we should do during our stay would also be welcome.

What every you do, keep away from el Classico, Merengue club, or Club Latino in Sosua.

They are a must see!

Where else can a group of 20-something female tourists go and receive zero attention from the male tourists.

LAX and Onno's are on the "strip" in Cabarete that include several other bars and nightclubs (called "discoteques" here), including the world-famous Nikki Beach which just opened this month.

One night in Sosua could be fun (definitely "interesting") for 6 women in their twenties...and will most likely be more than enough to say "been there, done that"...there are 2 or 3 large discos all on the same block on the main street in Sosua.
You'll definitely hear plenty of Bachata, Merengue, Reggueton, etc..

You can rent a taxi and go to Playa Dorada, about 45 minutes from Cabarete. Within the complex there are several bars and dance clubs all adjacent or walking distance from each other.

Another option, about 15 minutes past Playa Dorada is the Lighthouse Disco at Ocean World. It is a "first world" type club, like something in Miami or NYC, but isn't really worth the trip unless you're spending the day at Ocean World or something like that...

As for downtown Puerto Plata, there are several discos playing exclusively latin music, but geared mainly towards locals, not tourists. I wouldn't recommend that unless you have a good "tour guide" with you...and that doesn't mean a member of a hotel's animation team! :bunny:

From just east of Cabarete to just west of Playa Dorada there are about a half dozen "tipico" bars and car washes that have live bachata and merengue concerts. There's always someone playing somewhere every weekend..just ask around or look for the posters all throughout the area.

Cabarete Beach World Music Festival will be held on Saturday Sept 4th. The beach will be packed with locals and tourist alike. It's not a disco, but you’ll get all the variety of music and social that night you desire.
