Is it not illegal to buy or sell Viagra on the streets in DR?
I read a blog that it made it sound like it's perfectly legal...
Or maybe it's just so prevalent no one cares? :ermm:

There probably is some legal issue about selling it on the street, as in street corner hustling, but you can buy it from any colmado, chemist or select bars perfectly legally. You can not just pack your case full and expect to get them into the uk or us.

Thanks Anastacio!
Seems weird if it's easy to purchase pretty much anywhere, that there would be people selling it on the street.

Anyway thanks for your helpful reply.

There is a substantial amount of counterfeit Viagra in the DR. I met a salesman for Viagra in Sosua and he said that the counterfeit drugs(mostly made in China) will work, but they are not chemically pure. The impurities can be toxic, even lethal. Counterfeit meds are a multibillion-dollar business.

PeterInBrat,
That's very informative thank you!
Perhaps it's more likely that this is the stuff being hustled on the street....:smoke:

There are locally made equivalents of Cialis and Viagra that sell in pharmacies and are much cheaper than Cialis and Viagra.

The Cialis equivalents are la Pela and Onn that sell for about 50 pesos a pill.

The only Viagra equivalent I remember is Viga (I think) but there are several others.

seems to me that the only things illegal in the dr are things that the government or police can't get a control on....
as long as thier fingers are in the pie...they let things slide :)

Pill costs vary massively depending on the pill, they are made in anything from 50mg to 300 my, the counterfiet pills are very likely to leave you with heart damage, but there is no excuse for unknowingly buying them as the differences are easy to notice and avoid. You are most likely to pick these up in dingy colmados. You mention street hustling Viagra? Never heard of people on the streetdealing in Viagra or any other blood circulation enhancer, smack and crack on every street but Viagra hustling is new to me. Like I said though, there probably is a law against selling any drugs without a trade license of some description.

In sosua, there are hustlers selling it on the streets. Better to buy it in Brittania. Better yet, buy a Cialis generic in most pharmacies.

Considering the age of certain tourists in Sosua I expect there is a big demand for them. Sosua isn't really a real life situation though so what goes on in Sosua, is Sosua, and not really a mark for anywhere else.
I agree, buying off the street would be nuts, heart attack victims all over the place.:dead:

I doubt that they sell it in Britannia, and you will find that the majority of the users are actually quite young.....I had to sell it in the uk as part of a job I had at the time......why have we got back onto Sosua by the way

hmm must be tourettes syndrome you mentioned it four times in two sentences

I suppose if you take my post literally then yes, my point is we haven't been banging on about it. You seem to be interested in bringing attention to sosua by making such a song and dance about mentioning the place. What do you have against sosua and general conversation of the destination? Most people enjoy sosua and can discuss the place without issue, so what is yours? I can't really be bothered to go into a silly convo with you but you seem to want to get something off your chest, so I'll humour it for one more post.

I'm sure that most of the older tourists don't need the stuff. It's the young studs trying to impress the local ladies and their buddies "actually making a fool of themselves" that are the major users.

I'm sure most have given it a go. I did and it made me feel very unwell almost sufficiently to go to hospital, obviously my circulation pumps strong enough. My comment about the age in sosua was a bit of a red rag, some don't seem to gave thief laughing faces on today though and so fell dead on humour.

Somebody has to stick up for us old tiimers. ;) Getting back to the OP, I once asked my cardiologist about the stuff on the streets Pela etc. and he said to stay away from it.

Yes, they use the same chemicals in that as they do in ecstasy/MDMA, and either of those kills people hourly so figures really why in most modern countries it isn't easy to get hold of. I think most young guys take it when drunk in the hope it will save them from drinkers droop, because of the nature of it it should have the reverse effect really.Anyway I'm giving myself a complex knowing so much about such stimulants, enough on this from me.
