I mean antibiotics, antidepresents, commonly prescribed medicines for everyday little concerns. We are able to get many medications over the counter in Mexico but I am not familiar with how the DR does it. Can anyone shed some light on what the policies and laws are in the DR?

It depends on the pharmacy. Some pharmacies enforce the controlled medicine law, some don't. I was looking for an anti-anxiety medicine a few days ago. One pharmacy said "no without a prescription". I went to a smaller pharmacy and had got it without a prescription. No questions asked.

It depends a bit on the pharmacy but overall you can get every kind of medication here without any prescription, some just charge you some extra peso's for it depending on the medication.
