I've stayed at this hotel 10 times over the years and would always book through a travel website such as selloffvactions.com. This would include flight, room and AI. It was hard to beat, higher end than Casa Marina and often cheaper, if booked late you could get a 2wk single for abour C$1500. Since January 2010 this package no longer comes up on the travel websites, checking the hotel website the price for room alone is higher than the previous full package.

Can anyone shed any light on this? What has changed? Anyone stayed there recently who could share a review? Hard to figure out the prices e.g. wk of Oct 01 Casa Marina is C197 + 300 taxes out of Toronto.

Event-full year at Sosua Bay

Guess you've missed all the postings on DR1. The owner of SBR has lost a law suit for several million; part of the property was up for auction to pay off the suit, but one of the group suing was murdered before the auction. Meanwhile, Armando Casciati has developed a new business in stem cell treatments. Perhaps the hotel is packed with desperate souls willing to pay a fortune on accommodation while awaiting their miracle treatment?

Jackspratt - Sosua Bay Resort simply got out of the AI business. You can still book an AI deal that will include meals, but not the flight. Casa Marina is the only AI in town at the moment.

so your saying Sosua Bay is guest friendly now ? wow. the food there is excellent and the location you can't beat.

Sosua Bay is now "two" hotels, so to speak. One is entered for registration through the main entrance, the other from the street going down to the beach. The one entered from the beach road charges $50 per night for 1 or 2 people, and the second person can be a guest of your choosing. I think only breakfast included in that price, but perhaps someone who has taken advantage of that option can give more details.
