Do we have enough (<cough cough>) and young enough guys to actually start a football league or cricket league within Dr1. I know some of the American guys might want to play rounders (a bit of a girls game in UK) but I am happy to adjust to whatever you can and prefer.
Has this ever been attempted, 5 a SIDE? 6 man Cricket?

Anyone??

Might be a nice excuse to head to different destinations for games, maybe even en excuse to see things we don't even know about others areas???

I expect this has been done and failed.
Oh well,
Anyone????

I have just read this post back and thought 'what a dumbass post', not many people even get on well enough on here to accomplish mass meetings, so scrub it. Silly idea while feeling sorry for a pony and pondering lifes mental hurdles.

Baseball, basketball and Volleyball seems to be the only team sports here. Cricket that is the other part of the Caribbean. Too hot for Football/Soccer.

Interesting reading about rounders and the much older game "baseball" which as I have been telling Dominicans is also a UK invention - but nobody believed me.

So we invented soccer, rugby (American football*), Cricket, Baseball, Badminton, Tennis, Golf, Crown Green Bowls and all the great sports of the age. Pretty amazing for such a bunch of beer swilling lard arses!

OK we suck at all of them these days apart from Crown Green Bowls, but that is just a cyclical thing.

We probably invented hoops back in Tudor times too.;):bunny::bunny:;)

I would be up for cricket - never saw any bats/balls/stumps or practice nets the whole time I have been in the D.R.

* (I mean come on!!! You have 2 teams of great hulking blokes trying to get an oval shaped ball in to the opposition's end zone? - pleeeease do not tell me that your "American" football was thought of entirely independently.)
