I find it a little bleak..... very good service at the Texaco and the car wash is the best I've found.
Senor Fermin, at the main corner, has a pretty good wine selection.

Take a dip in the spring who comes up in Laguna Gri Gri.
After swim take lunch across the road from the lagune in Le Petit Bistro de Paris, very nice, good service and descent food, not cheap though but very relaxing to sit and watch people come by and see boats go off and come back.

If you go further to Playa Grande, Tito will look after you...... same beach meal with a bigger beach ...... fantastic vistas

Yes, the food is good there and the beach nice, but very different from P Caleton. Playa Grande is a large common looking beach and PC is a quiet inlet. It is up to your taste which is better. I prefer P Caleton, as it is very private. Just don't go on the weekend though, as it is far from quiet. Weekdays only.
I am en route from Cabarete to Rio San Juan so you could always drop by and visit me...can't offer a relaxing beach but there are fields, animals and the river!

Yes, I was thinking the same thing! It would drive me nuts to let all the litter just sit there while I was swimming ~ I would pick up as much as I could!

I was there for about 25 minutes and was on constant alert, which made it less enjoyable. I hope since then someone has done something about the mess...Ken maybe you can give us a report.

the best thing to do in rio is buy a bottle of swill wine at fermine then go and find lolitta behind the texico station for a message with happy ending......what a day!
