Just links if known - from obviously old postings.

NO stories on scary driving habits. I've been in places far worse than the DR and survived to write today.

Just want 'wheels', license requirements and insurance for mobility purposes and to see if your land is for me.

TX in advance.

Decent car, not fancy: RD$275,000-450,000 (US$7400-12,000). Cars are 40% more expensive here. I'm putting my 2002 X-Terra 4WD on the market for RD$325,000.

Insurance, highest coverage possible: RD$25,000 (US$675) for an RD$$350,000 vehicle.

Residency done by a lawyer: US$1000, 3-4 months.

SuperCarros - Rep?blica Dominicana - compra de carros, venta de vehiculos is a good place to see cars and prices. Just be aware almost all used cars have had their odo's rolled back.

we have two cars, a small honda and a toyota jeep. both about 8 years old. insured with colonial, honda at 18k pesos, toyota at 30k.
i never had an accident here save for a small incident in a car park :)
i admit the insurance did not pay for that but only because the damage was below the minimum set by colnial. miesposo forked out the cash himslef :)
hovever when he crashed the car colonial paid every single peso, about 50 thousand of them, in fact.
