This is a restaurant with a retail sale counter?

No restaurant...just retail store. There's one in Santiago as well.

Chef Pepper has two restaurants in SD with retail sales, and they deliver. They have frozen Alaskan King Crab (2000 pesos for 2lbs.) Their other products are excellent and most are not that expensive for the quality they offer:

Something Pretty Close

There is a type of crab that is caught locally, at least here on the north coast called "centoyo" or "cangrejo gigante" that has a similar flavor to Alaskan snow crab or king crab. It is usually sold by the street vendors in Sosua and is caught locally.

It has large claws equal in size to king crab and larger than snow crab. There is not as much meat in the legs themselves though. The flavor is awesome because it is fresh. The only way to purchase snow crab is frozen.

They are in season now and have much more meat when in season.

Usually cost about $65 pesos a pound.
