Little "banks"

Can someone explain to me the purpose of the little "banks" that I see all over the country?

It looks to me like they have something to do with the lottery, but they seem so strange. And they are found in places that I would never expect.


I searched, but couldn't find a thread on this. If someone knows of one, please direct me. I'm certain someone has asked this question before.

they are not banks, they are places where one can play lottery.
and many people here play. and hope.

The former are gaming parlors, off track betting, and betting parlors (NFL, NBA, NHL, Dominican Winter League, World Cup, National Lottery, Lotto)

There are also a lot of unofficial lotteries played in the back of stores in the US
