Hotel recommendation between Nagua and POP

I don't know if you will find anything 4 star on that entire route. Bahia Principe near Rio San Juan is probably a shaky 3. There are plenty of small hotels if you lower your standards. Bahia Blanca in RSJ has spectacular views but is a bit run down. Cambria in Nagua is a nice little hotel across the highway from the ocean, but I doubt anyone would say it is rates 3 or 4 stars.
I dont know of anything 4 star on that route either. I would have recommended Samana but thats more than 2 hours from Puerto Plata...Like sweetdbt recommended, there are plenty of small hotels on the route but nothing 3 or 4 star quality...

Hotel La Catalina in Cabrera is probably the best you'll find
Small, attractive, good food and views form up the hill..... active crowd on Friday nites
Oh.... affordable too.... I have stayed there myself and would not hesitate to do it again

Definitely a great choice with La Catalina Hotel!! ...And be sure to pop down the hill for a visit into the most beautiful town in the country, Cabrera!
