Hi Everyone,

We were told that there is a bus from Santo Domingo to Gasper Hernandez. Does anyone have any information on this? If so, which bus line, times, cost, where to pick up in Santo Domingo and where it drops off in Gasper?

Thanks in advance.

You will have to take the bus to Sosua and a guagua, publico or taxi to Gaspar Hernandez

Metro to Sosua is RD$340, Caribe Tours is less.

From Santo Domingo, a faster way via Caribe tours is if you go to Rio San Juan via the new route- as opposed to going through San Francisco de Marcoris- the old route. You will arrive in Rio San Juan within 3 hours without having to change buses. Fror there you take a local guagua to GF- about 30 minutes

Good suggestion Kozy. Perhaps someday if the transportation mafia can be overcome, Caribe Tours will actually have bus service through Cabarete again. Then places along the way like Gaspar Hernandez could be just another stop if they implement the quick route to Santo Domingo.

Yes, that is a good suggestion.

But not sure the only problem preventing bus service to Cabarete and beyond is the transportation mafia.

For a time there was service from Sosua to Samana via Caribe Tours, but very few riders.

And from Puerto Plata to Sosua there are very few. Just got back from SD on Caribe Tours and there were only 5 of us on the bus after POP. That is typical of what I normally see when taking CaibeTours from SD to Sosua.

I know of a daily guagua service from Gsp Hrndz to SDQ..

Leaves each morning @ 05:00 and arrives around 10.. return service from 13:00 and arrives @ 18:00

Run by El flaco y el Tino.. if you 're interested I'll try to get their numbers

It is cheap and has aircon, each way used to be DR$ 350 a few years back

Hi,

I wanted to thank everyone for the information. We plan to try the Caribe tours bus from SDQ to Rio San Juan later this week.

don't forget to....

If you stow baggage in the undercarriage, then you'll be wise to sit on the storage entry (right) side of the bus and get off the bus every time the storage is opened to observe that your items aren't missing when you arrive at your destination. A friend had his luggage stolen at one of the stops when he didn't heed this advise. TO

On Caribe tours you need to bring a sweater or at least a long sleeved shirt. It is always very cool and sometimes frigid. They really crank up the air. Good Luck!

Options to Rio San Juan, Gasper Hernandez & Jarabacoa area.

Hello!
Any suggestions for our trip? We arrive at POP at 2:45pm and need to get to Bahia Blanca. There are 5 of us and 5 pieces of luggage. THEN, we need to get to Gasper Hernandez (Los Gringos) for 1 day. THEN we are off to Jarabacoa. What options do we have for those three legs? We already have a hired driver from Jarabacoa to the airport (STI) for our return trip.

Thanks in Advance! ~ Becky
