Santo Domingo - beaches???

Hi

I'm flying into santo domingo for a 4 days of vacation. The only thing I want to do while I'm there is sit on a nice beach with a beer in my hand.

Are there any (nice) hotels in SD that are on the beach? Are there any nice beaches in Santo Domingo?

If not, do you guys recommend I take the 4 hour drive to either puerto plata, susua, punta cana etc and drive back to the airport in SD when my vacation is over?

There are no beaches in Santo Domingo.

Since you'll only be here for 4 days, I wouldn't suggest wasting 2 of them on driving to the north coast.

Based on proximity to the airport (SDQ), and since you said you want a "nice" hotel, I'd go the Hamaca Hotel in Boca Chica.

Now let's wait for the Boca Chica bashers to chime in. :cheeky:

Robby, there are no beaches in Santo Domingo. There is a rocky waterfront, but no bathing beaches.

You can go east about 40 minutes to Boca Chica, Juan Dolio, etc. Or you can go west about 45-55 minutes to Playa Najayo and Playa Palenque.

Thanks for the help guys!

Would you recommend going east to boca chica ir west to playa najayo etc??

So far boca chica/Juan folio look pretty good to me
