Cheapest is to Ft. Lauterdale from Santo Domingo via Spirit Airlines. But beware of hidden fees, which can cost you.

Second cheapest is usually jetblue to Ft. Lauterdale.

And American is usually competitive to Miami.

Also, American has flights to Puerto Rico.

Atlanta is inexpensive as well but there's a stop in FLL (Spirit).

The American flights to Miami are cheapest for Monday to Monday travel for some reason.

FLL on Spirit as previously mentioned is by far the best bet for pure savings as long as you don't bring more than one carry on and pack under 50lbs. or try to change your reservation. They've got many flights for under $300 and it's a short drive to Miami if that's your destination.

JetBlue to Orlando is around $350 and it's a non-stop, direct flight and a better destination if it's there are kids travelling with you (for obvious reasons).

Got to take the $140 fees at Las Americas into account. I recently flew from Tampa to SDQ round trip for $348 with changes in MIA. When you take out the $140 for the DR that's CHEAP!!

Mrs HB and I just got back from FLL (460 r/t in the Big Front seats)...can't beat it. Had to pay for two bags over and just one bag back (forgot how much)....Of course sent like 500 pounds of stuff back in boxes....it'll get here sometime...

Go on Spirit's web site (or any other airline for that matter) and book the trip both ways for the same dates..any dates. If the point of origin for a round trip is in the D.R. and the destination is in the U.S. the fares are markedly higher than the other way around.

And doing the same trip in the other direction FLL-SDQ-FLL is exactly the same fare.
