I recently heard of someone who had an accident and their family was desperately telephoning around trying to find people with suitable blood of the right type. Looking through the forums, I see that a long time ago people were saying that is was possible to have your own blood stored for future use. Is this possible in the DR and if so, how, where and how much does it cost?

Are you kidding? In DR you can store something safely only in your safe deposit box in the bank, or it will be stolen, doesn't matter if it's your blood or something else.

Forgive me folks if I have this wrong.

I think our past board member Lambada tried to start something like this. I think it was more like an "available donor/ location" type thing.

Maybe try and search her posts. I do think she made some progress.

Best of luck.

I think the donors database is much better thing. Because even if you find any blood bank or hospital that can store your own blood, you still need to visit them weekly to check that your blood is not addled after the fridge was out of service during blackout hours.
