Default Not helping the Dominican Image

Cops seize cocaine cache during USVI traffic stop
    The Associated Press

    Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 | 4:03 p.m.

Federal authorities say they have seized 228 kilograms (502 pounds) of cocaine during a traffic stop in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

U.S. officials say St. Croix police officers stopped a Dominican national Sunday while he drove in the town of Christiansted. Officers allege a search of the car turned up seven large bags in the back seat and trunk holding cocaine.

Authorities say the drugs had an approximate street value of more than $6 million.

A statement Monday from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency identifies the suspect as Miguel Pascual, a Dominican who lives on the nearby U.S. island of Puerto Rico. It was not immediately clear if Pascual has a lawyer.

What this idiot has to do with the Dominican image. He is just another low life drug dealer. Would it make any difference, if he would have been from the US.

Being from the USVI I concur with what Criss Colon said as far as the perception that most of the locals have. It only takes a few to give people the wrong impression.

one person's comment who is angry at his lot in life doesn't mean ev1 shares the same...

i myself see a poor people who smile in the face or thier hardships and enjoy whatever life has given them...

i'm also sure many tourists couldn't handle the troubles these people deal with and those that did...wouldn't be able to smile about...

this is just another opinion on the dr1
but it's mine and i like it

Most people's minds are open enough to relaize that the acts of the few don't exemplify the acts of the rest. If some people's minds are closed enough to presume that the Dominican Republic is full of similar people, then these same people would have some kind of warped opinion about the Dominicans-whatever was in the news. Who cares about the opinions of those who steriotype?
