President Leonel recently bestowed on Nobel laureate Vargas LLosa the Order of Christopher Columbus' highest award, commenting that the Nobel Prize came 20 years late to the author of Feast of the Goat. The novel looks at the period of the Trujillo dictatorship, capturing the period's ferocity and cruelty. Saturday January 15th at 3 pm The Meeting Place (calle 60 Juan Bosch/formerly J F Kennedy in Puerto Plata) there will be a discussion about whether the novel is historically correct or is it mainly a work of literature. Discussion will be in English and Spanish and will include people who lived through that time. All welcome. For info contact 809 261 7393 (11 to 4)
