Hello!
I didn't see a subforum dedicated to introductions so I figured this is as good a place as any to introduce myself.
I am colombian-born but live in Canada. I manage multiple projects in the DR so over the past 3 years I have been travelling there on business and have developed a fondness for the island. It's my second favourite latin american country (after guess which one LOL).
I really enjoy my time in the DR. Initially, it's hard for me to adjust to the slow pace of the DR business culture, but after a few days, I go with the flow and let the warmth of the island envelop me. Dominicans are very similar to Colombians from the Caribbean coast, they are lovely people and I am happy to say I have made some great friends while there. I also find that most dominicans are actually fond of colombian culture (the music, the telenovelas and seems as though they love the ladies as well haha).
My favourite city to do visit and do business in is Santiago. I find it has a different energy and the people are more fast paced and perfectionist when it comes to getting things done. I also enjoy the atmosphere, walking around el mercado on a busy saturday, downing a couple of presidentes with a couple of peeps, eating a greasy empanada from that guy that has the little empanada cart in front of the Hotel with the casino... ah what hotel was that..
Anyhow, I have lurked a little and felt like I wanted to come in and say "hola".
