I don't usually like to tell a new poster to use the search funtion on DR1 but in this case I will. There is more info on Sosua on DR1 than you will have time to read before your trip. lol It is a a perfect town for what your group is looking for and then some.

Just go to sosua they have a AI resort there yeah there's plenty of women unless your lookin for men ,can't help you there.

if you know so little about the dr, and can't decide on a city.. what may i ask, caused you all to choose the puerta plata area in the first place?

you don't want water sports.. so why cabarete?
you don't want prostitutes, so why sosua?


you are finding conflicting reports on which city is better or worse, because they all have thier valid reasons, depending on the person giving the review.


i have stayed in cofresi, cabarete, and sosua, multiple times.

i prefer sosua. i like the atmosphere there, i now have friends there, both dominican and ex pats. i prefer the beach in sosua over the beach in cabarete. it's not the greatest beach in the world or in the dr, but i like its feel. i enjoy sitting on the beach all day, and at the bars on the beach. i even enjoy the shops on the beach. i like the bars and restaurants in the city, almost all of them. i enjoy the prostitutes in the city. not all of them though. lol. i enjoy hanging out on the strip till 3 or 4 in the morning. and i enjoy coming and going to and from my hotel with as many women as i feel like. but, for all the reasons i love sosua there are plenty enough people that hate it for the same reasons.

personally, i hate cabarete. because i dont like the beach. too windy and not enjoyable.. FOR ME and MY TASTES. i like the town well enough but the beach ruins it for me, so i dont stay there anymore. but there are plenty of poeple that love cabarete for all the same reasons that i dislike it.

i liked cofresi well enough. but i hated thier beach as well. and there were too many AI's, that sorted of snuffed the experience for me. overall its a very nice place, and many people like it there.

also, keep in mind that much of the information you may find on sosua, is probably slightly outdated, because they are going trhough changes right now in regards to the puta bars, and putas on the street. info about street kids and beggars may be off because they have been cleaning them off the streets as well as many (not all) of the hookers. they have bee nrounding up illegal haitians across the island and sending them home, so that info about all the haitians on the streets will be slighlty off as well.


overall, imo... a group of young guys can have just as much fun in cofresi, puerta plata, sosua, cabarete, sanitago, etc..... but it's doubful that any of them will be perfect for everyone one of you.

well, there are a few men in sosua that swing that way. if that's what thier looking for. a few cross dressers as well.

I would imagine if someone told you to go to the Puerto Plata area they would have mentioned water sports and putas, both of which you are not interested in. Maybe Punta Cana would be a better fit for you and your pals.

Cabarete is the spot, if you can't get your mojo, you can always take a 10 minute publico ride to Sosua to renta yenta. Try both for a few days and decide for yourself, both towns have a distinctly different vibe. If you plan on kiteboarding, windsurfing every day, then Cabarete for sure. If your main focus is imbibing and procreating, then Sosua is for you. Either way, you made a great decision for such an important event!

Leave your confidence home cause the chicas you will meet will only go to bed with a foreigner for a fixed fee. That's the way it is in rep dom.

Go to Sosua and get your freak on............ there are a couple of AIs in Sosua, or you and your boys can rent a villa on the outskirts of town...

Do another search on this site as there is a complete list of hotels in Sosua, guest friendly and not so guest friendly.

How can someone give you helpful information when you keep changing your wants. First no putas, then looking at putas is OK, now you aren't a saint which I gather means you just might end up in bed with a puta.

If that is the case than Cabarete is the place to go.

there are lots of guys that come on here and SAY they have no interest in putas, and talk alot to stroke thier own ego's or try and somehow seem better than other people by acting like they would never pay a puta.

when in truth, thats really thier main goal and they can't wait to land on the island. and grab the first chica they see.


if you fall into this group, then sosua is your better option.


then there are guys that actually mean it, and truly have no interest in putas period. and wouldnt pay one if thier life depended on it.

if you fall into this group, then cabarete would be a better choice.


but, understand... neither sosua, caberete, or puerta plata is going to land you in bed with any dominican women. the women in this area that have no problem jumpin in bed with a foreigner, are doing it for the money. the girls that do have a problem with it, wont be in the same places as you anyway. unless they are honest to goodness just working (barmaid, waitress, etc..) but, if they are good girls, they aren't getting in bed with american's on a bachelor party.

im not judging you. im jsut saying, if your just throwing lip service, save it, and go to sosua. if you're not, then go to cabarete.

that's probably the best advice i can give to a group of young guys on a bachelor party in the dr that dont want putas, but want to party.


of course.. the best advice i can give you, is to get the groom drunk, hook him up with a puta, take pictures, give them to the bride to be, destroy all hopes of a wedding, and save that man from a lifetime of living hell on earth.
