Unless you are concerned about changing thousands of dollars, it is "approximately" 10 pesos per 1 CDN and 16.5 pesos per USD

If you are thinking about changing USD 1000 or more, i would wait for a reply from someone local, and it does make some dramatic daily swings

checked the exchange rate in several places.
us $ ranges from 16.55 to 16.85
cad $ ranges from 10.00 to 10.15.
these are all street rates .
better rates can be obtained if you know where to go.
In all cases the Canadian $ rate is always bad.
you are always better of to exchange canadian dollars
in canada to US $ and if a large amount bring a US $ bankdraft.
they will put a hold of atleast 6 weeks on personal checks.

To me street rate is the rate that you get
from the kiosk and exchange houses and the like.
Which is better than the rates you obtain from the banks.
which again is better than what you get from your hotel.
Expats, who know their way around get even better rates.
from the people that supply the kiosks and exchange houses
but they are harder to find for tourists.
You can get up to 30-50 points better from these people
for larger amounts.

OK, cool. To me, "street rate" means the rate I'd get if I exchanged w/someone in the street, like under the counter. Thanks for the explanation!
