Does anyone know of a non profit group here in the DR that could donate a hearing aid to a teenage girl that is hearing impaired. She is also talented in art and if there are any schools, courses or summer programs they are affiliated with would help her out a lot. Perhaps they know of a Speech Pathologist as well? The preferred area is North Coast.

Before you get into hearing aids, you had better have her tested. There are several issues, and the major one is to test whether the nerve between the ears and the brain is still funcitoning.

There is just one ENT specialist that does this expensive test (About 2 or 3K DOP) and she is in Clinica Corominas. IF there is connectivity, THEN you can see about a hearing air and all the rest of the rehab.

We have been through this several times here on the board. I would suggest that you consult a good ENT person (Yes, I can suggest one or two of them) to give here a preliminary check over and then see whether the other, more expensive test is needed or not.
