I am living in Cabarete for the next 7 months and have a prescription for adderall, however my doctor could only prescribe me up to 3 months of it so I was wondering if there was any way to get it here.

Nope, I've tried everything. Maybe you could use an online pharmacy if you already have an existing prescription. Let me know how it turns out.

as far as i know you cannot get it in DR.
there are other meds for the same condition but only a specialist can prescribe them.
TALK TO A DOMINICAN DOCTOR BECAUSE ONLY A DOMINICAN DOCTOR WILL KNOW WHAT'S WHAT IN DR.
in POP there are 3 pharmacies that sell controlled drugs: popular, centro medico and deleyte. you will need a special prescription in several copies along with cedula or passport to prove your identity.
nota that dominican doctors are not too keen on control drugs are the pharmacies are not likely to give you any info on them either. i called many times and they still treat me like a junkie desperate for the next fix even thou i call legitimately and from another pharmacy too!

Dorota, a couple of months ago I contacted you about a guest who forgot his Ritalin and needed some. Clearly it's by prescription only, and then only by specific specialty physicians.

I'm curious: what specialty physician would be the ones to prescribe treatment for ADD in the DR?

yesterday out of boredom i asked few farmacias about ritalin and no one had it but my computer clearly says it was sold in DR in the past...
i guess the specialist must be the same as in USA/europe. psychiatrist? psychologist? i know that meds have to correspond with the specialty and i have seen the prescription but i cannot remember the doctor. in addition i do not think many doctors will even have the prescription block.
i will try to find out today...

so, ADHD drugs can be prescribed by a psychiatrist. other controlled drugs may be handled by cardiologo, endocrinologo, anastesiologo and some internistas.

dude, don't be a smarta**. i hate it when people suggest to stay away from meds when they do not suffer themselves. i have all sort of smarties like this telling me i should not take migraine drugs and i really wish they had a proper headache with vomiting, blindness, not being able to move or talk and so on...
