Been several times to DR. Staying in early March with group at Ocean Blue. Have a couple of questions if you would be kind enough to answer them:
1. Saw premium liquor included at resort. Saw a close-up of the bar with Cuervo tequilla and no others. Anyone know what their premium tequillas are?
2. Can you tell us which is the best building for views and relaxation? We've heard #'s 4 and 6. Any advice?
3. Shade on the beach and at pool look sparse. What time do we need to hit either for loungers with shade?
4. Heard the restaurants were pretty decent except for Route 66. Any confirmation or additional info we should know?
5. What games are at the casino? How are the blackjack rules? Any suggestions/warnings/tips about the casino?
6. Is there a decent cigar shop on-property or neaby? I know beach vendors sell cigars but few are in humidors thus dried out.
7. Heard that service is spotty - not rude or indifferent, just spotty. Other than the Privelege area or strategic tipping, any suggestions or resort areas to look out for?
8. Anything involving interesting local flavor for a walk along the beach? Restaurants, bars, etc?
9. Any advice or recommendations specific to Ocean Blue?
Really appreciate any info you can supply. Stayed at Paradisus and Riu Palace previously. First time at Ocean Blue. Is it comparable?
Thanks in advance...

Tequilla is NOT readily available in the DR Rum is theirs.

We stayed in 4 all are not far from beach, There is a tram to move clients throughout the resort. Also depends on what side you are booked on Blue or Sand?

3. Shade on the beach and at pool look sparse. What time do we need to hit either for loungers with shade?

Need to mark your sport around 6-7 am for a shade spot @ pool as there are very few of them.

4. Heard the restaurants were pretty decent except for Route 66. Any confirmation or additional info we should know?

We enjoyed route 66 as well. No problems with food.

5. What games are at the casino? How are the blackjack rules? Any suggestions/warnings/tips about the casino?

Its a small casino & never used it as we are not gamblers .

6. Is there a decent cigar shop on-property or neaby? I know beach vendors sell cigars but few are in humidors thus dried out.

Yes the cigar shop is a fare size.

7. Heard that service is spotty - not rude or indifferent, just spotty. Other than the Privelege area or strategic tipping, any suggestions or resort areas to look out for?

We have not had any problems in this area.

8. Anything involving interesting local flavor for a walk along the beach? Restaurants, bars, etc?

We walked the beach but were not interested in this. There are vendors on the beach.

9. Any advice or recommendations specific to Ocean Blue?

All in all it is well worth the $ paid by us. We picked this resort up for 769 PP plus tax. Out of hfx NS Canada.

Really appreciate any info you can supply. Stayed at Paradisus and Riu Palace previously. First time at Ocean Blue. Is it comparable?

Sounds like you are looking for a higher end resort. Ocean Blue/Sand is a moderate resort. approx 3 to a 3+ * resort in some areas a 4*.

You get what you pay for & we enjoyed this resort, one good feature is you do not have to book al la carts.

It s a good bang for your buck!

Happy Travels!
