Hello,

My fiance and I reside in NY but are planning a wedding in Puerto Plata. We are making arrangements to get married at a church but would like to have the reception and have the guests (at least 70, maybe more) stay at Iberostar Costa Dorada. We picked the resort bec we have some guests who are bringing children.

Has anyone had a wedding at this resort and wouldn't mind sharing pictures? The hotel sent me some pictures but I would like to find out how other people's experience with the hotel has been, particularly for weddings. The hotel has recommended reservation of the Bohio restaurant, which appears to be the snack bar near the pool...

If anyone has photographer/videographer and DJ recommendations, I would appreciate that as well.

One last question--the hotel emailed me a sample menu but it seems a little high, particularly since the guests would be paying for the all inclusive plan and the alcohol would presumably be included...I am waiting to see if the hotel will work with us...

Any tips would be appreciated! Thank you very much!

Is the pool visible from the restaurant at night? I am trying to figure out if that's where we should have the reception...

Wasn't sure if you are golfers, but there is a beautiful course about 4 minuets away from your hotel. We set up deals and packages for tournaments and just regular play. Let me know if you are interested and ill give you the number to our Reservations.

Hlywud--thanks so much! the pics are very helpful. Did your group have a dinner reception after the ceremony? If so, which restaurant and did you like the food?

Golfixx--please pm me the details. I am sure some of us would like to play. Do they rent equipment? Also, the wedding is not until May 2012.

My daughter is getting married at the Costa Dorada in December. They think they would like to be married on the beach but are unsure because thay have not seen any pictures of wedding on the beach, does anyone have pictures? Also did you use the photographer from the resort for all your pictures or did you hire someone else.

Ellie and I were married there in 2004 and it was absolutely lovely.
Th El Bohio restaurant is the one next to the pool that opens from 10:00am to 18:00 as a poolside snack bar and then closes whilst they re-arrange all the furniture and add tablecloths for the night-time session.
Here is a collection of photos of the ICD showing all aspects of the hotel and grounds:-
Iberostar Costa Dorada Feb 2007 - photos of Dominican Republic on Worldisround
Our party was only of 10 people but we were really well treated. The food and service were both excellent.
The only negatives were that we found the restaurant to be a little on the dark side whilst we were eating our meal and, in our opinion, the hotel photographer that was there in 2004 was, for such an important day for us, not very good.
If we had to do it all again, we would have gone with our own photographer and negociated the quantity of photographs, and the price, in advance.
The on-site photographer might have changed since then (or was having an off-day when he photographed us) but be prepared to have loads of photo's taken but only be offered a few. If you want the a CD with them all on, in our opinion, that's when it starts getting costly - hence why we say to agree terms first.
Other DR1 members will be able to offer you the names of good photographers and I bow to their better judgement.
Hope everything goes great for you.
Tropical Regards
Ian & Ellie
