Rather poor translation IMO, but worthy of study. I will use this in my class on Dominican History, no doubt. Few people understand the total isolation of the slaves and how they had to exist.
According to the Code Noir, they could have been killed just for getting together. The fact that there is at least an oral tradition of this meeting is something important to remember.
