Hey there we're in LT for a few days and are trying to find the best bars where we might meet some expats, drink fairly cheaply and not be overwhelmed by loud dance music. We've already been to Rockin Pirata. Any suggestions helpful!

Try Big Dan's Ice Palance. If you are driving, it will be on the
left hand side after you pass Banreservas (bank).

Mojito bar/restaurant is run by two Cuban Americans on the beach. Nice location and decent food during the day.

Keep in mind that expats in Las Terrenas does not mean the same thing as expats in most other areas of the North Coast. Many if not most of them will speak English as a second or 3rd language (if at all). A lot of French, French Canadians and Italians have settled there.

Canadian Ivan has a bar/restaurant just before you to supermarket Lindo on right hand side - see the Canada flag. Also ice cream etc. Canadian parlor there.

Barrio Gringo

Went there last night. Owner from luxemburg and had an expat crowd. They play rock music and bill themselves as a rock bar. Pool table, friendly bar staff. I dug it for a few beers. Coming down from pueblo de los pescadores down the one way road, right before you get to the intersection with the one way going back to the beach on the right hand side. Most conversation last night was english.
