Default We always talk about "good" Spanish

there is a video on the New York Times site about the Gold Rush in Colombia, and the reporter interviews miners and rural residents of the Colombian outback.

It is amazingly easy to understand their speech, another indication that speech habits can be a national trait.

Compare this speech to any comments by a Dominican ball players or someone from the barrios interviewed about some incident....night and day...

You are correct HB. I even find it difficult to understand some of the so called professionals on TV and radio!

Faster is not always better! And what is with 2 and 3 people talking at the same time? How on earth is that understandable?

So if that is what we see on TV and hear on radio, what do the regular people learn.....
