Hello everyone,

I live in the UK but i am visiting your country for the first time in the middle of May 2011.

There are four golfers in our party of 6 which is the main reason we are staying at the Iberostar Costa Dorada just outside of Puerto Plata.

I am seeking your assistance regarding the best way for us to travel as a group with clubs to the Playa Grande Golf club in Rio San Juan, how much we can expect to pay and what other things there are to do whilst we are around Rio San Juan.

Best Regards

Alan

There is another reclusive Brit that must have sent you a message. He says that he is a golfer, too. He knows the roads to Playa Grande, and Santiago so you can play at least three nice and different courses while you are here.

If that gentleman, a true knight is slightly tarnished armour, should not show up, I will be glad to guide you. It is very easy and not to worry.

If that knight's armour is too rusty to respond... just take Hwy #5 east from POP.... after Rio San Juan, you can't miss it.

Price will depend on your friend's connections but should not exceed $100US

Crowds will not be a problem..... enjoy yourself

I think I know the reclusive Brit you refer to HB & I don't believe for one moment he would claim to be a golfer these days. He enjoys playing a round of golf true, but a GOLFER ....... No Way!! As I recall, he has been beaten on the course by people like yourself & that would ALWAYS preclude the beaten party being allowed to call himself a GOLFER - Just someone who enjoys your company!!

If my assumption as to this fellow is correct, I am reliably informed he will be out of the country at this time ...... May/June. However, I am sure that if Massielg does not come forward or contact the OP direct by PM. that this reclusive Brit could organise trips to Playa Grande for around US $60 per person (including cart). Caddy would be extra of course. Probably a deal could be struck with the taxi drivers outside Costa Dorada (negotiate, negotiate, NEGOTIATE Cardscale) for a US $75/80 round trip??? Failing that there are taxi drivers I know who would drive to Playa Grande (& back of course) for under US $100. If Cardscale hasn't already got it sorted then he could PM me to see what I can organise for him.

WW, I am pleased to advise that 'the Knight's' armour is NOT rusty ....... he has been keeping it well maintained looking after some maidens in distress recently!

HB, The Knight says he would be DELIGHTED to play Santiago with you again anytime you can get off those crutches/simmer frame &/or walk a straight line. He says (misinformed as he is) that he enjoys your company!

I will pass on everyone's comments here to him when I see him next! ~ (a very tongue in cheek) Grahame.

Distressed Maidens

and i'm sure there are several..... you'll need a steed, of course - a horse!

Preferably white..... a prancer....

Glad to hear you are well....

Playa Grande is still a moving target.... the word is later this year for the renovations, but we have heard that for 2 years now - or more.

Until then,.... play on MacDuffer

Let me know when you are coming and I will drop by..... not playing much myself, any more..... dunno why

look forward to hearing from you.

WW

PS...glad to see you haven't lost your knack for "having the last word!!"

Maybe Easter Week? Early in the week? For the first time in years we don't have classes Mon-Tues-Wed...so I am free. And I did promise David Z some tee time also..Let's plan on it??

Cordially,

HB, rusty, dented and hobbled knight that he is...
