A.K.A. Setcreasea or Tradescantia Pallida.

Any idea if this plant is availabe in the D.R.?
We are traveling next week and my plan is to take a cutting from my yard but I am afraid it may die or get confiscated.
I would like to plant it along the front of our house (galeria/marquesina planter boxes) in hopes that when we return in the summer it has spread and looks as beautiful as this one.
It requires little care and grows extremely fast.

Any info on availability or a nursery in the Cibao region would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

It's used as a roadside plant in many parts of the country. There is a good chance you will see it even before leaving the airport.

There are many "houseplants" that grow wild in the DR. Most Orchids and wild begonias are native. Some of the more pointy plants such as some in the euphorbia family are imports from Africa and used as hedgerows. Hibiscus are a very common hedge as well- the hummingbirds like it.

Very happy now!

I asked some friends but they did not know.

My house looks so plain, need a little color.
