the time has come to give the last rites to our batteries and send them to batteries' heaven. only not, because dominicans don't leave the dead in peace ;). so we sold our 8 batteries for 4.600 pesos.
was that a good price? they were 3 years old and served well, poor things.
another question, out of curiosity: what becomes of those old fellas? how do they get rennovated? at what price do they get sold in their next life? how long more will they serve for?

The price you received seems typical for used batteries. Eight used batteries being worth about the price of one new battery.

What should happen is that the lead is reclaimed, processed and used again for new batteries and not some "rejuvenation" process of the old battery and then sold again as new.

What brand of battery are you using?

oh, i thought they revive batteries and sell again. one learns something every day...
i went to check the brand of batteries but i am too short, i can't see. four new ones were 16.240, with a discount. we bought 4 instead of 8 in hope that our area will be connected to the 24/7 circuit, as promised....

Good luck on the 24/7 power.

Yes, quite often batteries are "revived" by the use of chemicals and/or electrical pulse de-sulphation techniques. The problem is that they they try to sell the batteries as "new". That is why I said the lead should be reclaimed instead of the old batteries being sold as new after they are "revived". Revived batteries will have very different lifetimes depending upon just how bad they were.

Keep in mind that you have about one month to add another four batteries if your new four are not working well enough. After that time adding another bank of batteries will cause an electrical imbalance that would be likely to greatly reduce the life of the batteries.

the process of connecting to 24/7 has already started and has been confirmed by different authorities. will take a long time thou. i will fully believe when i see it :)
i still think that 24/7 really means "less apagones" so we would never get rid of the invertor, just less batteries.

I Have Been On "24/7" for over a year.

I live in "Las Colinas" Arroyo Hondo.
It has been really nice. If the "power" does go off,it is usually for 1 to 10 minutes.About every few weeks it may be off for an hour,up to 4 hours, but not very often.
I have 12 batteries,MotorCraft deep cycle,about 3 years old.I add water,mixed with "VIAGRA",EDTA,as needed.
If, and when, I need new batteries, I will only buy 4 new Motor Craft.
In the event of a "Natural disaster, revolution,or the like,I have a 20 Kilo Detroit Diesel power plant.
