I always thought if I needed legal advice I should talk to a lawyer. If I needed medical advice, I should talk to a medical doctor. Now I discover that all I need to do is go to the "Golden Arches" place and someone earning minimum wage, who may or may not have yet graduated from high school, can answer all my professional questions with the same authority as those trained as specialists in those fields.

Smugness, not really. I like Mickey D's in moderation. But, the educational requirements to work there versus the needs to work in the specialized fields of law and medicine are a minimum of six years of higher education apart. If a worker at McDonald's votes, his/her vote counts as much as everyone's. But until he/she passed the bar or the medical certification exam, I think I will stick with a "professional's" opinion in specialized circumstances.
