Default I don't know where to put this

What happened to the REP points? It is an attempt to equalize us all, LOL. Here comes the resurrection of Lenin, HAHAHA. While you're at it, how about removing the number of posts. Then we will all truly be equal here in DR1 LAND.

I posted about this in the new forum thread.

    http://www.dr1.com/forums/general-st...m-dr1-com.html

Some posters traded rep points in order to inflate their reputation.
This made the system useless and unreliable, for this reason it's been axed.

We have an alternative coming based on "Thanks". it's much more transparent and open.
It's much easier for those abusing it to be detected, not just by DR1, but other posters.

@ANNA-NO, can I trade my points in?

@ROB-Less is more. Keep it like this. You should have deleted their accounts. Now that would have been a TRUJILLO solution, HAHAHA!!!

Robert, all dont remember the way it was stated but after one would give points in the old system, the reply "maybe you will receive in return" did not help. Posters guessed they should return the gester. I do not think it was trading points.

Anyway, it is gone and no need crying over spilled milk. lol

I'll send you and BB a pm in place of rep points to show I agree with you.

Interesting........There is no system that is perfect. But that was the system that was put into place by DR1. Bronxboy makes a good point when saying, that message always came up..."may you someday receive points from this poster"...or something like that. Also if you tried to give points to someone, but couldn't, you were hit with the message "gotta spread em around before you can give this poster points"....so again you were encouraged to give points.

Just like junior high and high school, certain cilques will naturally start to form, especially on a forum like this. It's totally normal for jealousy and resentments to build on a forum like this. That's what makes this forum so great, its characters and personalities and entertainers. Were there "point hoars" on this board, of course, everyone likes to be recognized by their peers.

Was it a little private contest to some? Maybe........were all human beings at the end of the day. Some people are super competitive, others have BIG egos. Abuse, I don't know about that. You guys see what's goin on behind the scenes, so I could be wrong here. But DR1 set, and put this system in place.

I'm sure some people didn't think the point system was fair. But it was the only one we had. DR1 set the "parameters" the posters only followed what was given to us.

As far as some posters having these high "rep point totals" were they REALLY REPUTABLE? Or just popular and friendly, or likeable. There was no other way to give acknowledgement.

Also some people like the private point system, because they don't want other posters to know they're associating with you. But privately they may enjoy your posts, and award you points.

Reputation is hard to define on a forum, maybe you should have four boxes and keep it simple.

Anyway I think you've done a great job of keeping it all together.

I love the site, and sometimes can't believe the incredible amount of information that is here......

Personally, I say forget the whole points system. Those of us that started here more than 10 years ago helped others because we wanted to and most to this day are still here points or no points because we want to be here.

The original idea if memory serves was to let newbies know who was credible when giving advice but we soon found that it wasn't perfect and someone that wasn't liked got bombarded with bad rep points so we ended up with only good rep points.

I have to admit that I got more good rep points when posting silly useless things than when I was the evil mod and thought I was helping people.

Like I said doesn't matter to me I've been here since July 1999 and I will continue to help or be silly when the occasion presents itself.
